Patrick Swayze: Dirty Dancing in the City of Joy

Patrick Swayze with wife Lisa NiemiThis is the first installment of our Celebrity Chakra series.  Though it may seem definitive, it is really a snapshot or point in time read.  In other words, we are giving you a story and a way to read it into your own life.  Look for further reads and enjoy!

Patrick Swayze

One thing about Mr. Swayze, of “City of Joy” fame, is that he was born for service.  It is ironic that a man who died of pancreatic cancer would have such a reading.  So one asks immediately, how can a man of service and sacrifice experience such a painful death?  Now I would like to say without any criticism at all that this is just a celebrity reading, not a summation.  Or in plain English, this Chakra read only gives an idea of how we can live our own lives better.

OMG Heart Chakral Oil 5 mlHeart disease is the greatest cause of untimely death in the western world.  Better yet, in simple words, we are dying from broken or clogged hearts.  Yet what the heck is a “clogged heart” anyway?

I can tell you what my doctor told me, “Watch the intake of cholesterol and do cardiovascular exercise.”

Sounds easy right?  WRONG!

If it were so easy, we would not worry so much about the ones we love

YET THERE IS HOPE!!!

While I am not going to lie to you and say that your diet and physical fitness habits are unimportant; I am going to add some tools to make changing them easier.

The Medical-Industrial Complex

Drug Business Peddling Garbage

doctors postmortemPharmaceutical companies around the world are trying to monetize health.  What this means is that the profit motive has superseded their alleged mission to provide cost-effective healing that contributes to the public good.  In the New York Times, (Harris, 2009) the paper discusses how these companies have crossed the line in indirectly paying doctors to prescribe their drugs.

Even worse, they fish the patent office for drugs that they can make minor changes to and patent.  Once this patenting is done, they can sell the drug without competition for several years.  Naturally the patented drugs sell at a premium.  What we create is an industry that thrives on higher prices for no improvement in healthcare.
