People are screaming about the movie “Paranormal Activity.” Everyone asks” Do you believe in the paranormal?” Before I can answer that I must define what it is and why it may be useful. To most people, the paranormal is either superstition, the devil, or stuff that the scientific method will one day understand.
Regardless of which camp one falls into, it is important for those of us who live in Western European Democracies or Judeo-Christian countries to understand that for most of the world spirits, dark forces, and negative inertia are common explanations for ill-explained activity. Ancient philosophy state the Hermetic Principle, “So Above, So Below.” Or in Vedanta the parable of Indra’s Net. Made of beautiful pearls, Indra’s Net extends indefinitely in all directions. So while all pearls reflect the entire universe, any one reflects all others and their reflections as well. Like the person standing between two mirrors, your reflections reflect each other on to eternity. In the same was as above every single particle in the universe reflects all others. This governing principle helps us to understand our place and relation to the world.
